UMA JOB LINK FORM.

Problem Statement:

Youth unemployment in Uganda remains a significant challenge, partly due to a lack of visibility and information about available skill sets and innovations. By bridging this information gap between skilled youth and potential employers, we can reduce unemployment and foster economic growth.

The Solution:

The Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) plans to launch a job link Program during the Uganda International Trade Fair (UGITF) 2024.The program will link job seekers, graduates and interns with relevant skills to industrialists capable of leveraging those skills. A dedicated job link desk will be established at the Industrial Education Pavilion in the international trade fair, serving as a hub for gathering information about youth skill sets and innovations.

Job link desk services:

The desk will collect data on youth skills and innovations, upload a robust database accessible to manufacturers and employers seeking talent that matches their needs.

Receiving of the applicants’ profiles:  Applicants will download the forms from the UMA website, fill them out, and then Physically submit the complete forms, each with a colored passport photo attached, to the Job Link Desk at the Pavilion Tent, UMA Show Grounds, for registration. The submission of these forms will only be from 2nd – 10th October, 2024 where Manufacturers will be at UMA to receive some of the hard copies submitted.

Networking Opportunities: Youth will have the chance to meet potential employers, learn about job openings, and make industry connections.

Skill Demonstrations: A platform for showcasing skills and expertism to potential employers directly at the pavilion tent during the international trade fair. Applicants will be given a chance to verbally demonstrate what they are good at.

The already identified applicants will be will handed over to potential employers/manufacturers who have already requested for them.

Post-UGITF Follow-Up Activities:

  • Data sorting and grading youth skills and qualifications with employer needs.
  • Aligning skills with employer requirements and needs
  • Display people of certain skills on the UMA website.
  • Follow up for further information on details of the youth
  • Sharing of the youth database with employers.
  • Connecting of the youth to further training programs to enhance their skills.
  • UMA will exploit Funding Opportunities to fund the youth in other opportunities.
