UMA Partners with Buildcon Expo to Champion Local Manufacturers in Booming Construction Sector

by | Jul 29, 2025 | Communication

KAMPALA, UGANDA – In a strategic move to bolster the link between local industry and the nation’s rapidly expanding construction sector, the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) has been announced as a key Supporting Partner for the 4th Uganda Buildcon International Expo.

The premier event, set to run from August 7th to 9th, 2025, at the UMA Show Grounds in Kampala, is a critical platform for the entire building and construction value chain. UMA’s partnership underscores a concerted effort to increase the visibility and uptake of locally manufactured building materials, aligning with the “Buy Uganda, Build Uganda” (BUBU) policy.

With the expo just over a week away, this collaboration provides a significant opportunity for Ugandan manufacturers to connect directly with their most important customers and showcase their capacity to meet the demands of the booming construction industry.

A Vital B2B Platform for Manufacturers

The Uganda Buildcon International Expo is the largest dedicated B2B event for the sector, attracting a concentrated audience of key decision-makers that manufacturers strive to reach. This includes:

  • Real estate developers and contractors
  • Architects, engineers, and surveyors
  • Government procurement officials from agencies responsible for public infrastructure
  • Distributors and hardware merchants from across the region

For local producers of cement, steel products, roofing materials, paints, tiles, electrical cables, plumbing fixtures, and a host of other related goods, the expo is an unparalleled opportunity to generate high-quality leads, secure large-volume orders, and build lasting business relationships.

Championing the “Buy Uganda, Build Uganda” Agenda

UMA’s role as a Supporting Partner is pivotal in championing the BUBU agenda within the construction industry. A key objective of the partnership is to advocate for the increased use of high-quality, locally produced materials in both public and private construction projects. The expo provides the perfect stage for Ugandan manufacturers to demonstrate that their products meet and often exceed international standards, countering the preference for imports.

By facilitating direct engagement between local producers and major buyers, UMA aims to build confidence in the local supply chain, which is crucial for retaining value within the Ugandan economy, creating jobs, and fostering industrial growth.

Showcasing Innovation and Technology

The expo is not only about showcasing existing products but also about highlighting innovation. It serves as an ideal launchpad for manufacturers to introduce new technologies, such as energy-efficient building materials, durable and eco-friendly plastics, or advanced chemical and finishing products. It also allows them to stay abreast of international trends and technologies that can be adopted to improve their own production processes.

As the construction sector continues to be a primary driver of Uganda’s economic growth, the partnership between UMA and the Uganda Buildcon International Expo is a timely and strategic development. Manufacturers across the building materials value chain are strongly encouraged to register and participate in this must-attend event to capitalize on the immense opportunities for business development, networking, and advocacy.
