KAMPALA, April 27, 2023 – The Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) has launched its Digital Membership Certificates during a Board meeting at the UMA head office. The new certificates align with the association’s commitment to digital transformation and enhance the services offered to members. The introduction of digital certificates is expected to streamline processes and support the association’s paperless objective.
The UMA Chairman, Deo Kayemba highlighted that manufacturing processes demand faster response times and emphasized that digital certificates will facilitate instant issuance with real-time signature and approval.
The Managing Director of Mesha Steel Limited, and Mr. Ramesh Babu of Kiboko Limited, welcomed the QR code feature, stating that it will ease the identification of UMA members and simplify the customs clearance process for URA requirements.
During the transition from physical to digital certificates, UMA will continue to issue both formats. The digital certificates will be provided only to members who have already received hard copy certificates, allowing for a smoother adaptation to the change.
Digital Membership Certificates will be issued via the association’s internal CRM through a three-step process involving approvals from the Finance Department, Executive Director, and Board Chairman. The live QR code feature enables members to access information about their membership status and simplifies the sharing process with regulatory entities.
The benefits of the new digital certificates include efficiency and speed, security, reduced paper use, enhanced controls, and improved integration with relevant systems.
Am wondering what the Association is doing to assist her members to over come the tax burden these days!!
Many new startups are closing yet the Association is silent
