A team led by Dr. Ezra Muhumuza, the Executive Director of Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) met with a team from Basco Paints led by Mr. Shreelok Mohapatra the Country Manager for Basco Paints – Uganda. The discussion included highlights on different support services that UMA provides to its members; such as;

• Policy analysis and consistent advocacy to ensure all industries are aligned.

•  Schedule of events, like the annual trade fair which has different initiatives aimed at fostering continuous engagement with the public and which benefits members.

•  Supporting UMA Members’ brands through regional trade fairs (Mbale, Mbarara/Fortportal, ..)

•   A Financing symposium has been planned for next month, aimed at devising modalities for supporting members on financial access.

•  UMA is in continuous engagement with Government through the different entities (NEMA, URA, UNBS, etc). These engagements not only increase market access for members but also provide a supportive environment for the manufacturing industry in the country. There is a proposal to establish border export hubs at different border points, which will shorten the trade routes.
