Eastern Region Trade Fair -ERTF

The 10th UMA Eastern Regional Trade Fair (ERTF) took place from Tuesday, 30th May to Tuesday, 6th June, 2017 in Municipal council Stadium, Mbale Municipality.

As part of the Association’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the 10th anniversary celebrations, the show activities vibrantly were trigged off with the UMA Mbale Hosipital marathon that took place on Sunday 28th May, 2017 and was attended by over 200 runners. The proceeds of the Marathon went to the renovation of Mbale Regional Referral Hospital and a variety of items that included mattresses, weighing Machines, Maama Kits, BP Machines, Paint to mention but a few. Special thanks to Century Bottling Company, Crown Beverages (Pepsi Cola), Southern Range Nyanza, Megha Industries, Mbale Resort Hotel,Desire Beauty Products, Peacock Paints, Tian Tang Group,Movit Products, Samona Products, SCD Darling, Abacus Pharma, and Busia Allied Sugar.


The 10th UMA ERTF generated a lot of interest from both the exhibitors and show visitors, and by all accounts was a tremendous success and exceeded expectations. The fair attracted 256 Exhibitors and 58,616 show goers and business visitors. 

The fair was officially visited by Right Honourable speaker of parliament of the republic of Uganda Rebecca Kadaga. The Chief Guest inspected the exhibition stands and she was accompanied by the Chairman UMA Advisory council, H.E. Abid Alam, Owek. Kaddu Kiberu, Member of UMA Advisory Council, Prof. Maggie Kigozi Chairman UMA Marketing Sub-Committee, His Worship the Mayor Mbale District ,Omukuuka, Mr. Nkuutu K Mubaraka, A.g Executive Director UMA and Hajj Ibrahim Lule, a member of the  UMA Board.


After touring the stands, the ceremony kicked off with the Ugandan, East Africa and Bugisu land Anthems led by the Mbale school band which was followed by the opening remarks from the Acting Executive Director who invited His worship the Mayor of Mbale, followed by the Chairperson UMA Marketing Sub-Committee Prof. Maggie Kigozi who represented the UMA Board Chairman.  After her presentation and remarks, she invited the Hon. MP Mbale then Chairman-UMA Advisory council, H.E. Abid Alam also made his remarks there after inviting the Rt Hon. Speaker of Parliament.

 The speaker deliberated on several issues regarding the interventions made by the government that will improve on the cost of doing business in the country. She was happy to note the efforts made by UMA through CSR to give back to the community and argued the people in charge to take good care of the proceedings that were handed over to the hospital.

After her address, she was requested to award the trophies to the Overall Best Exhibitor Hariss International Ltd, the best pavilion SCD Darling Limited, Best Foreign Exhibitor, Kenya Ports Authority, best branding and promotion which was awarded to Movit Products Ltd and an appreciation award to Kemedia (Kids Park) for taking good care of the children while in the fair.
