Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development is yet again in the process of preparing proposals for the Financial Year 2020/21 budget and therefore the need for the secretariat to begin compiling the submissions from the various members and sectors. This process entails submission of tax/budget proposals from the various members that include both national and regional issues with special attention laid on the following items:

    1. VAT,
    2. Excise duty,
    3. Income tax,
    4. PAYE,
    5. Corporate tax,
    6. Import duty,
    7. Export levy,
    8. Operational incentives required,
    9. Laws for amendment,
    10. Bills to expedite,
    11. Covid relief stimulus proposals,
    12. Standards to be developed,
    13. Processes to improve [which may be constraining your operations]
    14. Demand stimulus proposals
    15. Export promotion
    16. Cost of doing business, conversion and production
    17. Any changes to the current budget/tax policy for improvement of the next

 

UMA secretariat is making a preliminary draft of issues that will be discussed via the webinar/zoom meetings scheduled (See attached scheduled meetings).

It is incumbent for all to attend the webinar or submit in writing your concerns. Otherwise, the sector submission will be binding to the sector and as such MoFPED will not listen to counter proposals after the submission.
