The Government of Tanzania and Uganda are in plans to construct a railway line from Tanzania through Uganda to South Sudan. The planned line is expected to be a second direct link to the coastline and will improve Uganda International trade transactions as it will be an alternative route to the sea after Mombasa. Construction of the line is expected to start in the second half of this year and will go on up to 2015, being founded by both Uganda and Tanzania.

Oil & Gas production in the country is expected to begin 2013 according to Tullow Oil.How this will be on a small scale and will be for the local power market. Major production from the Lake Albert Basin is anticipated to commence in 2016 after a basin wide plan of development is approved by government.
